Frequently Asked Questions

Q1: I received confirmation that my e-claim was Successfully Submitted. What Do I Do Now?

Answer: Nothing! Your claim has been received and is being processed for payment. Payments for e-claims are generally issued within 14 days after the claim is submitted.

Q2: What If the estate owes Money to any State or Local Agency; Will That Affect my e-claim?

Answer: If the estate has an outstanding debt with any agency, state, city, or county, the unclaimed property payment may be intercepted to pay the debt. The additional processing time to pay the debt will delay your payment.

Administrative expenses include mortgages, lines of credit, condominium fees, property taxes, storage fees, and utility bills. To the extent possible, the estate beneficiaries should continue to pay these bills until the probate estate is opened.
